HARDWARE SET-UP

  • Insert one end of the RJ-11 telephone cable supplied with the kit into the modem's DSL port, and the other end into an unfiltered telephone wall jack.
  • Insert one end of the RJ-45 Ethernet cable into your modem's E-Net port, and the other end into the computer's Ethernet card.
  • Connect the power supply to the modem and into a power outlet. Turn the High Speed modem on. The modem's Power, DSL, and Ethernet light should turn solid green in the next 60 seconds.
  • If your telephone wall jack canot be near your modem, it is recommended that the RJ-11 telephone cable you use be no longer than 15 feet in length to avoid service interruption

MAC OS 8-9 SETUP

  • Download Advantages Internet High Speed software and run the Setup.exe file.
  • Click on Next, choose Quick Install and click on Next
  • The installation software may prompt a message saying "This software does not run correctly...", please ignore and click on OK.
  • Once the installation software asks you to reboot your computer, click OK to continue.
  • Click on the EnterNet 300 icon that should now appear on your Desktop
  • Click on Create a New Profile
  • Type Advantages Internet as your new connection and click on Next.
  • Enter your username (userid@avantagesinternet.com), and password, and click on Next.
  • The software may prompt a message saying it has "Failed to locate the servers on your network". Please ignore this message and click on Next, followed by Finish.

MAC OS X SETUP

  • Click the System Preferences icon.
  • In the System Preferences window, click the Network icon.
  • In the Show pull-down menu, select the Network Port Configurations (for older versions, click Advanced or Active Network Ports in the Configure menu.
  • Make sure there is a checkmark beside the Built-in Ethernet. You can uncheck any other ports (ex. Internal Modem).
  • In the Show pull-down menu, select the Built-in Ethernet. (for older versions, click Built-in Ethernet in the Configure menu.)





  • Click the PPPoE tab.
  • Check the Connect Using PPPoE box.
  • In the Service Provider box, type Advantages Internet. In the Account Name box, type your username (userid@avantagesinternet.com) and your password in the appropriate box.
  • Check the Save Password and the Show PPPoE status in menu bar option.





  • Click the PPPoE Options button.
  • Click on Save or Apply Now depending on the version of your system..
  • Click the TCP/IP tab.
  • In the Configure pull-down menu, select the Using PPP item. Leave the DNS Servers and Search Domains boxes empty.





  • Click on Save or Apply Now depending on the version of your system and quit System Preferences.

To connect to the Internet:
In the Finder, click the Go menu, then click Applications. In the Applications window, double-click Internet Connect.Click the Connect button in Internet Connect.

To disconnect from the Internet:
Click the Disconnect button in Internet Connect.
