What is a Wireless Home Network (“Wi-Fi Network”)?

By using our wireless modem-router, you can connect more than one computer to your Internet connection with no wiring, as data is transferred between computers or devices over wireless radio frequencies. Although, each computer must have an adapter to transmit and receive data over the wireless network.

There are currently two technologies on the market: Wireless-B, which can transmit data up to 11 Mb/sec, and Wireless-G, which can transmit data up to 54Mb/sec. Our wireless router, a Linksys, is compatible to both technologies.

 

Is a Wireless Home Network secure?
Our Liksys wireless router enables you secure your connection with the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) protocol. When configuring your network, we strongly suggest that you set up a network key so that only the autorized users may have access to your home network. Moreover, our wireless router also serves as a firewall to protect you from having hackers access your home network.

 

What can I do with a home network?
Besides sharing your Internet connection between all your computers, you can share a printer, use your laptop anywhere in your house, play multiplayer games on your personnal network, and so much more!

 

What do I need to build my home network?
You may purchase our Linksys wireless router at 119,95$, which will be wired to the computer you choose as your network administrator. If your other computers require wireless adaptors, they may be purchased through Avantages Internet at 69,95$ each.

Do you offer technical support for home network?
Currently, we are unable to offer technical support for your wireless or wired home network. We suggest you contact the router's manufacturer for more help.

Is a wireless network solution compatible with Mac?
Although Mac computers are compatible to wireless technology, there are no wireless router manufacturer who offer technical support to Mac users.
